PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that in accordance with The New Jersey Water Supply Public-Private Contracting Act, N.J.S.A.58:26-19 et seq. the Merchantville-Pennsauken Water Commission will hold a Public Hearing at 4pm on January 14, 2021 on its proposed contract constituting a ten (10) year agreement with negotiated renewals with Utility Service Company, Inc./Suez Advanced Water Solutions, Inc., affiliates of Suez Water, for Water Main Asset Management Program to assist with replace/maintain water distribution mains in accordance with the WQAA. The contract provides for management, assessment, and maintenance of a minimum of 15,000 LF and rehabilitation or replacement of a minimum of 7,500 LF of main as will be required by the WQAA. The contract is and has been available for public review on the MPWC website since December 8 and can upon request be made available in person at the Headquarters at 6751 Westfield Ave., Pennsauken from 9am to 3:00pm from January 11th through the 14th by calling the Director of Engineering as set forth below. The contract proposes an annual payment of one million two hundred thousand dollars ($1,200,000.00) in year One. This is a fixed fee in year One and thereafter allows for annual cost increases with a not to exceed 5% cap in any year. The agreement can be terminated upon a next year’s advance notice. This expenditure compares with a 2019 budget line item of $800,000 per year which was prior to the WQAA requirement of a higher footage of main replacement. It is the WQAA and not this contract which is projected to have direct impact on rates. Any impact will be universal to all MPWC customers.
